George Shilakadze was born in 1967 on the 10th of May.
He graduated from the Tbilisi State Conservatoire in "piano" (under Prof. R. Tavadze) and in "organ" (under Prof. E. Mgaloblishvili) In 1995-1998 he passed the assistanship-probation in specialty "symphony conducting" (under Prof. Sh. Shilakadze).
Since 1988 he has worked in Chamber orchestra " Concertino Tbilissi ". He played the harpsichord, organ, trumpet and was a conductor-assistant.
Since 1996 he has been a conductor of the same orchestra. In 1996-1998 years he was the conductor of the Batumi Orchestra.
In 1998-2003 he passed the assistanship-probation in Saarbruecken and Mannheim under Professor Max Pommer and Prof. Klaus Arp.
In 2007-2008 he was the Head of the Students Symphony Orchestra at the V. Saradjishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire. From 2005 he has successfully leaded the string orchestra of the Evgeni Mikeladze Tbilisi Central College of Music no.2.
He has given many chamber and symphony concerts.
G. Shilakadze's conducting repertoire includes the works of Bach, Barber, Beethoven, Brahms, Britten. Bruckner, Gluck, Dvorak, Elgar, Wagner, Vivaldi, Corelli, Larsson, Mahler, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Honegger, Poulenc, Ravel, Rameau, Sibelius, Telemann, Schmidt, Schoenberg, Shostakovich, Strauss, Schubert, Schumann, Schuetz, Tchaikovsky, Haydn, Hallgrimsson, Haendel, Hindemith and others, belonging to such genres as: chamber, symphony, vocal, cantata-oratorio music. He has also performed the chamber works of Georgian composers V. Azarashvili, E. Lomdaridze, N. Mamisashvili, S. Nasidze. Sh. Shilakadze, S. Tsintsadze.
G. Shilakadze is the first georgian interpreter of many works a significant part of which he himself has arranged for the chamber orchestra. |
